4 months old...life is definitely not a bore

At his 4 month check-up: 12lbs 6oz(3%) 24.5 in(25%) Head 41.3cm(50%)  He is a little guy. We go back in a month to check his weight. He eats well, just on the small side.

4 months down, many more to come. Asher is growing up so fast! He has rolled from his back to belly...but I didn't see it the first time. He was on his play mat playing. I got up to get something and when I returned, he was on his belly! I was trying to see it happen for real....and finally it did!! See the video below. I have started running with Asher and Rex in the mornings. Asher loves it! Now don't be fooled, I don't run fast, but it is enough to get Asher's hair blowing in the breeze. He Squeals and giggles the whole time. Speaking of squeals......that is all he does for the first hour he is awake in the morning.  I hope he continues to be a morning person because it sure starts my day off right. I can't wait for our family to experience this in a few weeks in person. Most of the videos I am posting are from the morning.

No longer can we leave him unattended on the changing table/ bumbo or unstrapped in the bouncer. (I know we shouldn't have before either, but we did and he survived.) We used to use those as a place to set him while we grabbed something. Oh no, he can wiggle his way out and off. Thank goodness we didn't find this out the hard way. :) No falls yet.

Asher plays with his toys.  He grabs the rings on his play  mat and has a few toys that hook onto his stroller.  He concentrates so hard when he is playing. Mike loves to watch him examine everything. Needless to say, he can entertain himself for awhile. He sticks everything in his mouth and drools a lot. I read that means he is going to get teeth soon. I am not sure how I feel about that but I knew the time would come. Aunt Missy gave him teething rings so we will be able to use those soon!

Asher and I work out together. It's nothing crazy but he loves it.  I do push-ups over him and he giggles when I reach him. I lift him up and to the sides when I do sit-ups. My sister gave me a Baby Yoga/Pilates DVD that we do.  It isn't an amazing work-out, but it is a fun time with Asher.

Asher is a rock star at sleeping...well until this past week.  We figured out that if he goes to bed after 9, we are headed for a major melt-down.  He eats and goes to bed around 8.  Mike and I get some couple time which is nice.  Asher doesn't wake up until 6:30 or 7:00 the next morning.  It is great.  He is getting into routine of taking a couple hour nap in the afternoon and being up most of the day.  He take 20 min power naps here and there. When he wakes up from those power naps he looks at me like, "Okay, I am ready to party!" This past week he woke up at 2am one day and 4am another.....I am not sure what is going on with that.

Okay, I know you want to see pics and videos and not read.....here ya go.

T-R-O-U-B-L-E!

So tired!!

Watching Fireworks.  He loves them!!  He was looking into the sky and following them.

Occasionally I like to sleep in so I get Asher and we nap together. He somehow sleeps longer than me even though he wasn't tired.

Napping

Yes, he is a thumb sucker.  I am sure he will need braces when he grows up.

This is how he plays and why he has to be strapped in from now on.  He scooches down and plays with his feet while he sucks his thumb.

We feed a bottle every now and again.  Mike did such a good job but got a little bored because it took 15 minutes.

This is how I find him many mornings.  Thank goodness for breathable bumpers!

Mohawk after bathtime.

Tummy time with Rex!

This was what he wore to church.  All the girls in the nursery loved his 'big man shirt'.  What a stud!
Fun with the webcam.

 Napping in Mama's bed.

Big Boy!!!

Throwing a fit.  They are entertaining at times.

Playing!!

His good morning talks/squeals.
The good morning video we sent to Gramma and Grandma Sally.

Look I can roll over!!

3 months old!

Asher has experienced a lot this last month.  For starters, a 10 hour car ride to our new place in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was a rock star in the car.  He talked to me and only fussed once when we were in a dead stop on the interstate.  I was fussy about it too so I don't blame him.  He has had many 'firsts' down here.  First time swimming, first time in 100+ heat, first time in his own crib and own room at night, and the list goes on. The coolest thing that Asher does now is smiles back at you.  If you smile at him, he will look right at you and smile back.  I love it! He coos and squeaks all the time.  In the morning I can hear him talk to himself through the monitor.  It is nice waking up to that.  Mike started his new job so he isn't with us most of the day, but when he gets home Asher gets so excited to see Daddy. He is also sucking on his hands a lot to soothe himself.  Sometimes he nibbles on his thumb, but right now it is the whole hand.  It can make for a slobbery mess, but I think this means we will have a thumb sucker.  When I carry him now, he rests his head on my shoulder and grabs a chunk of my hair on the other side as if he is holding on tight.  Asher stays awake for most of our walks now.  That's exciting because he is seeing so much of the world!

Here is what I am talking about.

Rex is holding Asher's arm down ever so gently to lick the slobber off.

I think I posted this before, but I love it so much. Asher was chillin' on the floor and Rex came right up and decided he would chill with him.

Grandma Sally holding Asher so Mama and Daddy could eat their last meal in Columbia.

He was crying and I look over and this is what I see.  He was crying in his sleep.

On our morning walk at our new place.

All ready for swimming!!

Our first time at the pool! But many more times on the way.

After the first time at the pool - exhausted.

Lookin' Cute!

Asher loves Mr. Turtle.  They sit in his crib and play all the time.

Waiting for Daddy after his first day on his new job.

On our evening walk he is wide awake!

I thought I would throw one in of Rex, our other baby.  He loves the lake in our apartment complex.  There are turtles, birds and fish to chase.  We have to be careful on walks because Rex goes after them and Asher and I don't want to go with.

Napping after an excellent Skype date with the Whites.

Second time swimming.  This time we got out the floating car. Asher loved it! He just sat back comfortably as Mike and I moved him around.
We got him out of the pool, changed him and put him in his stroller.  Before Mike and I had time to dry off and get ready for the walk back, Asher was passed out.  I guess swimming really does make you tired.
After the 10 hour car ride, in our new place.  Asher stretched out on the floor and wiggled for about an hour.  Poor kid was tired of being in his car seat.

Father and Son checking the internet.

Room decorations. Aunt Missy sent us the link for this idea. All I did was put a few nails in the wall and wrap string around them.

Adorable!

3 months old!!!

This smile is going to win all the ladies when he is older!

Here are some videos that I have taken.  (Sorry they are sideways) Many of them you can hear Asher talk.

June activities

Asher will be 11 weeks old tomorrow. June has been a fun month for us.  Mike is around all the time since he has graduated.  We have been wrapping up our stay in Columbia and preparing for Shreveport.  Here's what we have been up to, but not in any particular order. :)
Asher sleeps through the night.  He goes down at 10, wakes up around 6 or 7 to eat, then goes back down for a few hours.  Isn't he a cute sleeper?

Gramma Idso, Mama and Asher made this plate.  We hope to use it for each of Asher's birthdays and maybe he will even eat his graduation cake on it in 2030. We had a good time making it.

At our friend's wedding.  We all dressed up for the special day.

The wedding wore this guy out. Maybe it was all the ladies that kept coming by and telling him how cute he was.

Checking out the ladies.....

The first Father's Day of many to come.  Asher didn't want to smile because he knows that Daddy doesn't like to smile in most pictures.

Showing off my new flippy-floppies at the doctor's office.  I had to get shots.....and I cried a lot. But Dr. Holly says I am a healthy boy! I am 22in long (25%), 10lbs8oz (25%) and my head is 15 1/2in around (50%).  I have a big head so Daddy says it must mean I am going to be super smart.

I smile all the time now.  I have great conversations with you when you talk with me.

I have a feeling Asher is going to get in lots of trouble....look at that mischievous grin.

Asher has always laughed in his sleep.  I remember it in the hospital the first few days he was alive. No one ever believed me, but now they are starting to experience it themselves and no longer think I am crazy.

Mike and Asher with Darin and Sammy in St. Louis.

Two good looking men. How did I get so lucky?
I love bathtime!!

Gramma Idso and Asher.  This visit, she enjoyed her time with Asher instead of just taking a million pictures - she still took a lot, just not a million. :) Asher loves snuggling with her.

Overall, Asher is a happy boy. Mike and I are so blessed. I can't wait to see what is to come.
